Suggestion

Generally speaking, I was wondering about when do we will take the IELTS exam again  and once we have registered, i want to  say something which is in order to obtain  high marks let us share our language whether if it is idioms , phrasel verb , ...... Etc ( it could be also an introduction or conclusion or overview)

If it is a good idea let us start and share if you do not mind .

I just thought and sharing what i'm thinking

Looking forward to see your opinions.

fantastic weather

When I came back to London from Saudi I found the weather totally awesome and that surprised me because it was freezing that gives me an idea about the weather in London it is changeable and it is not settled . Recently, the sky looks clear and blue therefore, there will be sunny days . Although, in Saudi Arabia, the weather is really boiling/absolutely scorching .

Climate difference between London and Wuhan

I love the temperate climate in the UK.  Generally speaking, it is warm in winter and cool in summer compared with the weather in Wuhan city. There is enough and balanced rainfall in all seasons .The temperature difference between day and night, winter and summer, are much more narrow than Wuhan.
Although many people complain about the changeable weather, I do not really mind it, maybe because I carry an umbrella every day.
When it comes to Wuhan, it is typical of subtropical monsoon climate. However, my city is located in the middle part of China, which is far away from the sea, so the sea does not affect the climate deeply. Sometimes, absolutely scorching or chilly weather happened.
The rainfall happens on the August and September mostly.

Lightning hit the top of Guangzhou Tower in 28th March, 2013.

Hi! I want to show you this picture, which I found it from a Chinese Website. At this time, it was in the morning in my city, but, the sky was dark as a night, and lightning, thunder and shower rain came. When I saw this picture, I thought, I was lucky not there, because, I could image that, it might be danger, when I was going out.

On the top of the tower, is the ferris wheel. During this time, there were a lot of people visit in it. When the shower rain was coming, the ferris wheel stop working, and some people started to scare.

My haircut

wana go back to China  ,,,,,,,,,,,,, my lovely delicious country

an interesting topic i have discussed

I was setting up next to a black guy whose doing his master degree on Arts in Epsom so, We have discussed about how to apply your studies in the real life with something that could gain from it a considerable benefit to help your country to evolve, in particular, we have been talking about the fact that the government should offer a brightest people a scholarship to make a research on something that could help the country to make a development. Furthermore, there is a theory that says every action has a reaction. On that situation the action is going to the school to learn and the reaction is applying your studies into a material that could conclude something useful with it.

what is even more ,Nowadays, the people are looking for something that can usually earn from it money quickly without much effort like the footballer which is not any sort of development , whereas the Engineers or other fields will make more effort than the footballer but less money earned .

it is glaringly obvious to conclude that you have to be a part of your country and you have to go back to help them to make any development even if it’s a small amount of it otherwise you don’t have to be one of your country because u haven’t helped .

that discussion made me to think about the future of my country  and how would it be if my studies applied to it to help my country to grown  .

Note: I have says to that guy that if u don’t have goals and approaches your life will be difficult to live and there will be something strange .

what do u think of the positive/negative impact on this topic?
I’m looking forward to see Fiona’s comment especially .

A goodbye and Good Luck gift

As we are no longer going to be all together in morning classes any more, I wanted to leave the group a little gift - I think you will all enjoy it! Watch the clip, it contains some wonderful advice and will inspire, motivate and touch you. Parts of it make me laugh out loud, some parts bring a lump to my throat. Let me know what you think! It would be lovely if you could also put up something to share with the gruop - it doesn't have to be a youtube clip, anything you think would be nice to share with the group. See some of you on Monday morning, and the rest of you.... I hope we can keep in touch on the blog and I'm sure we'll bump into each other around the school.

record

Totally ,we won the negotiation,,,,
We need 80m Euro, which includes 30m Euro to enlarge the stadium and update the seat somgthing in first year and 16m Euro to buy players to make sure we can get good result.
Finally ,we got more than we want, totally 80m Euro ,but they will buy the players for us, whats more ,if we win the game ,they will pay us extra 20m Euro.
So,best case is that if we get the first place ,we will get 80m + 16m + 20m Euro.
which will be a great negotiation.

Your IELTS results

Hope you're enjoying your study break. The big day is nearly here, your IELTS results are out on Friday. The easiest way to find out your result is to check it online - you will need the candidate number given to you on the day of the test. Alternatively, you can come and get your result from me during my lunchbreak (12.00-1.15), but if you choose to do this, please let me know in advance. Unfortunately we can't give out any results over the phone or by email. I will give you your official IELTS certificate on Monday in class. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

About Blogger

Today, Fiona needed me talking about the Blogger, tomorrow. I think, because of the Blogger is a Social Network, you can put everything what you want, but except your personal secrets. Secondly, you can share your life experience, just use it like using the Facebook. Also, you can put some emergency information on it. Do you all agree with that?

A fun way to improve your reading speed

When TV news presenters are reading the news, their words are displayed on a cue prompter, or an autocue, which moves as they read. Click here to go to a website where you can paste a text (try taking a text from the BBC site) then you can decide how fast or slow the autocue runs. I'll show you how to use it in class this week if you like!

Have a look at the trailer for Arbitrage. I've heard that this film is well worth seeing. It's set in the world of hedge funds, arbitrage, currency markets etc so as well as being a very watchable thriller, you might also learn something about finance :-) I'm probably going to see it over the weekend, so it would be fun to discuss it on Monday. Another film I really recommend is Margin Call, starring Kevin Spacey, which is set against the collapse of a bank similar to Lehman Brothers. It's out on DVD.

Useful apps and websites

Some of you have already enjoyed playing the 4 Pics 1 Word app, and it would be great if we could share some other apps or websites that are fun and help you improve your English. Two that we have already looked at are the IH My Words app for recording vocabulary, and I also showed you the Sounds app to help with your pronunciation. Over the weekend I'd like you each to suggest an app or website that helps you practise your English, and then write 2 sentences - in English :-) - saying why you like it and how it has helped you with your English.

Monday, 18 February 2013

Have any of you tried the game/app that Victor showed us last week? It's called 4 Pics 1 Word and it's completely addictive! I really recommend it. I wonder who will be the first one to get to Level 10?
